About the Instructor
Susan Quirke is a qualified level 3 Pilate’s instructor having qualified with Body Control Pilates an internationally renowned centre of excellence for Pilates based in London. She is also a member of REPS (The register of exercise professionals). All BCP qualified teachers hold insurance and are CPR certified.
Susan started doing Pilates herself for a chronic low back injury that occurred in her twenty’s where she was recommended by her physiotherapist to take up Pilates. She found that pilates was the only form of exercise where she wasn’t nervous undertaking the movements and could build up stage by stage into more advanced moves and over time manage her own back issues with specific exercise patterns. She has been doing Pilates herself for the last eight years. She also has a degree in psychology and focuses on the wellbeing of her clients.
Her interest lies also in lower back pain and she is currently studying to become a low back pain level 4 specialist as well as studying Pilates for different sports (Pilates for performance) so that she can work with different groups to improve their performance in different sports from cycling, golf, tennis, football, rugby, running etc.
She is also an award winning interior & lighting designer so understands how a sitting job can really affect how you feel and her interest lies in working with clients to mobilise the spine and work with joint alignment and create a sense of wellbeing & ease of movement in her clients.
